Skype optimizes their Android app for certain Android versions

As we all know, Skype app for Android devices are really pathetic. Most of the versions are unstable and buggy, despite of that, it consumes a lot of resources too. That makes it hard to use the app on older Androd devices running Android 4.0.3 to 5.1. Interesting thing is that the company is well aware of this issue, therefore, they just released an optimized version of the Skype app for older Android devices running 4.0.3 to 5.1.

In an official blog post, company says: “This update—starting to roll out in the next few days—is lighter on both disk and memory consumption, allowing for greater speed and better audio and video quality on lower end Android devices, as well as increased performance in challenging network conditions. This update builds on our mission to connect people from wherever, whenever, and from whatever device possible.”

This update has no quick rollout, so it will take some weeks to show up on your Android devices. Also the update releases on the basis of regions, the time required for different regions differ from each other.
