Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A unveiled with 5.5-inch HD display and 3,080mAh battery in China

The Xiaomi has launched their latest device into the budget segment, the Redmi Note 5A in China. The device comes in the Xiaomi’s most popular Redmi series at an event held in Beijing. The Successor to the Redmi 4A brings upgraded cameras and a bigger screen size in the similar unibody metal body. The device has two different variants that are priced below Rs. 10,000 while the high-end variant gets a better fingerprint sensor than its predecessors.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A comes with a 5.5-inch display with 720 x 1280 pixel resolution. Unfortunately, none of the Redmi Note 5A variant doesn’t come with Full HD display. The very base variant of Note 5A comes powered by Snapdragon 425 chipset coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. While the high-end variant boasts the configuration of a Snapdragon 435 SoC coupled with 3GB or 4GB of RAM and 32GB or 64GB of internal storage respectively.

All the three variants come with a 3080mAh battery capacity with USB Type-C port and the internal storage can be expandable up to 128GB via microSD, the device has been upgraded to a dedicated slot for external storage. Coming to its photography department, the base variant of Redmi Note 5A gets a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera. The high-end variant gets a 13MP f/2.2 rear sensor and a 16MP f/2.0 front camera, both the camera gets LED Flash support for better capturing. The handset runs on the latest MIUI9 based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat.

The fingerprint scanner comes embedded to its home-button for quick unlocking, is restricted from its base variant. The device has connectivity features includes 4G, VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS and an IR blaster.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A comes in three different colour variants – Champagne Gold, Rose Gold and Platinum Silver. The base variant of Note 5A is priced at 699 yuan (~ Rs 6,719), the higher variant with 3GB RAM+32GB ROM is priced at CNY 899 (~Rs. 8,641) and the 4GB RAM+64GB ROM is priced at 1199 yuan (~Rs 11,525). The device will go on sale in China via Mi.com and JD.com from Tuesday. There are no details about the when will the device coming to India.
