Xiaomi publishes Poco Launcher in Play Store as beta

After the launch of Xiaomi’s most trending smartphone model Pocophone F1, the company received thousands of requests from Xiaomi fans around the world for giving them the access to use the Poco phone’s custom themed launcher app. Now as promised by the company, the app hits the play store as early beta and you can sign up for the beta program to download and install it on your Android smartphone. However, the beta list now looks full, but they will soon open more space for beta testers.

We were unable to try it out ourselves from the play store as the list is full. But you can still download and sideload it from any of the reputed APK hosting sites like Apkmirror. The Poco F1 went on sale today at 12 PM IST, and all available variants are already out of stock. Right on time, the company has released the kernel source code for the phone. Now, the Poco Launcher is available on the Play Store for Xiaomi devices.

However, just after the release of this launcher, many people at Reddit have already started complaining about some of its cons. First thing is about the permissions for the app. This launcher seeks permission from the phone, even more than any other large launcher apps. This makes some people crazy and they are aggressively complaining that this app is actively spying on people’s phone. But that thing is acceptable as some of those permissions are necessary for executing all the features of the app. Then comes another problem, the play store listing of the app suggests that it contains ads too, that makes the launcher far more different from any other leading launcher apps.

Anyways, we hope Xiaomi will come up with a response for this allegations. Till then we can try out the app at our own risk.
