LineageOS 15.1 update with Android 8.1 Oreo announced

Finally the wait is over. LineageOS is gettings its one of the most awaited update. Now a new build LineageOS 15.1 has unveiled with Android 8.1 Oreo. This new build is currently available for a few smartphone models only and it brings many customization options integrated to the Android 8.1 ecosystem. The new build comes with big improvements and some major new features prei-installed. It includes performance and reliability improvements and some visual changes. Anyways, this is one of the major build of LineageOS in this year.

At first, the developers added Project Treble framework, which should allow for faster forward-porting of new features whenever they’ll be implemented by Google into Android. It is one of the most important changes in this build. It has many other visual changes too. Because, the official changelog says that the developers have rewritten the default Trebuchet launcher to match with the latest Android 8.1 Oreo. Not only adding new features, the developers focused on removing some unwanted crappy features as well and replaced them with some additional features. The newly included features are icon packs, adaptive app icons, and the ability to select an icon shape from a handful of designs including circle, super ellipse, teardrop, and the so-called squircle.

With LineageOS 15.1, users will be able to further personalize certain aspects of their interface, such as selecting an accent color and having the ability to pick between a dark or light interface. Optionally, these UI elements can also be implemented automatically through LiveDisplay, which allows the device to dynamically change its theme based on the time of the day. There is a new feature named Automagic which suggests you color themes for the theme based on the wallpaper which is really nice for customization. The custom camera app has also got updated with new features.
