HMD Global launches Nokia 2.1, Nokia 3.1 and Nokia 5.1

Nokia smartphones’ new owner HMD GLobal releaed the 2018 variants of their popular smartphones Nokia 2, Nokia 3 and Nokia 5. Instead of naming the devices Nokia 2 (2018), Nokia 3 (2018), Nokia 5 (2018), the company calls them Nokia 2.1, Nokia 3.1 and Nokia 5.1 which makes quite easier to distinguish. All three smartphones have gotten some major facelift, both regarding design and the specs. The Nokia 2.1 prices US$115, Nokia 3.1 for US$160 and Nokia 5.1 for US$220. Also, the company announced the Android P availability for every smartphone including these three.

The Nokia 2.1 is the HMD Global’s cheapest as well as the compact smartphone running Android Go, based on Oreo. The device features 5.5-inch HD display, powered with Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 protected with Corning Gorilla Glass on the top. The device comes with only 1GB RAM and 8G Internal storage, targeting basic smartphone users. It also has impressive battery backup with its 4,000mAh pack. There is an 8MP primary sensor at the rear, coupled with a 5MP selfie snapper.

Nokia 3.1 got a major upgrade from the Nokia 3 launched last year. The standard display has been replaced by an 18:9 taller display, with HD+ resolution. The smartphone also has a Gorilla Glass protection on the top. Under the hood, the device provides Mediatek MT6750 Chipset, along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB ROM. The higher variant is equipped with 3GB RAM and Internal Storage space of 32GB. There are a 13MP primary lens and an 8MP secondary camera on the device. The Nokia 3.1 runs Stock Android Oreo (Android One) with assured updates to future Android versions. It is juiced with a 2990mAh battery pack. Still, there is no fingerprint scanner.

The Nokia 5.1 or Nokia 5 (2018) got the most upgrades from is preceding variant. The display resolution has bee transformed from HD to FullHD+, with fingerprint scanner located at the rear panel. Similar to the Nokia 3.1, it has only 2GB and 3GB RAM options. The front camera is same old 8 Megapixel one, while the rear camera has upgraded to 16MP. The powerhouse of the smartphone is a Mediatek Helio P18 clocked at 2.0 GHz.
