Back in February, Blackberry was found to be working on several Android smartphones with the company’s the extra security layered on the top. The BlackBerry’s renowned BackBerryOS has been discontinued last year but stopped giving support to the devices, however, the security features were promised to retain. BlackBerry Athena was one among the smartphones found a couple of months ago, and now it has shown its face in detail.
The renders are found on the SIPO (State Intelligence Property Office) website, the Chinese Intellectual property regulation authority. The renders show the smartphone in detail, and the sh0ots from all the angles are available. As like the company’s every other Android smartphone, the BlackBerry Athena comes with a QWERTY Keypad, which covers a notable portion on the front panel. The smartphone has an exceptional dimension regarding the height, but the display panel is typical 16:9, placed on the top of the keypad. The navigation bars are given out of the display. At a glance, the smartphone may seem like a different variant of the KEYone smartphone. It is not sure if the company brings the fingerprint scanner on the space bar of the keypad like the BlackBerry KEYone.
For the first time among the company’s Android smartphones, the ‘Athena’ comes with a dual-camera setup on the rear panel, alongside the dual-tone LED flash. The side frames and rear panel are made of plastic and brushed metal combo it seems, which look premium in black. Coming to the side, there is dedicated capture button apart from the volume rockers and power button. The USB Type-C Por, Speaker and Microphone are located at the bottom, while the headphone jack is present at the top.The smartphone is also rumoured to sport a Bokeh effect on the primary camera setup, and under the hood, Snapdragon 660 + 8GB RAM combo.
