Android Pie based EMUI 9.0 is rolling out to Huawei/Honor devices

As announced by the company, Huawei is now rolling out the latest version of their custom UI named EMUI 9.0 based on the Android 9 Pie. The update has just started rolling out to the supported devices globally. The supported devices include the flagships from Huawei and other Honor phones. However, Huawei has promised that the list of supported devices will grow in some time. As announced earlier, the company is already working on to add more devices to its support list. So we can expect the Android Pie based EMUI 9.0 on many other midrange Huawei/Honor phones as well.

Based on Android 9 Pie, EMUI 9.0 uses AI to increase the system response speed by 25.8 percent. Huawei claims that EMUI 9.0 decreases the app startup time by 102ms and increases overall system fluency by 12.9 percent compared to EMUI 8.1. Overall, the EMUI 9.0 update is focused on performance and optimal user experience. In addition to these, Huawei has added many gaming elements also in the latest update. The supported devices will get the Huawei’s gaming graphic software named GPU Turbo 2.0 in the latest update. GPU Turbo 2.0 lowers touch delays by 36 percent and decreases hot spots temperature by up to 3.6 degrees Celsius compared to EMUI 8.1.

After installing the latest update, you will find several imitations of Google’s Android Pie features in Huawei’s style. Since it is a custom theme, Huawei has built up many Google services-like apps including the HiVision app, which is a clear inspiration from Google’s Digital Wellbeing.

The total update package weighs around 4GB in total and you are requested to download and install the update only when you have a strong Wi-Fi connection and enough storage space. However, those who are on EMUI 9.0 beta program will receive a 770MB upgrade only. The supported devices include Huawei Mate 10/Mate 10 Pro/Mate 10 Porsche Design, Huawei Mate RS Porsche Design, Huawei P20/P20 Pro/P20 Lite, Honor Play, Honor 10, Honor View 10 etc.
