Aadhaar is becoming mandatory for everything in India. It has already taken over the duties of other identity proofs. The Indian government is strictly forcing the citizens to use Aadhaar based identity for everything. The Government of India has launched the mAadhaar app for Indians in June, this year. mAadhaar is a mobile application which works as your virtual identity module.

Now, the ministry of railways has announced that you can use your mAadhaar app as your valid ID proof for train journeys across India.

“mAadhaar, when shown by the passenger on his/her mobile after entering the password, should be accepted as proof of identity for undertaking the journey in any reserved class over Indian Railways,” reads the statement issued by Ministry of Railways via Press Information Bureau.

A user can not only carry Aadhaar data on their mobiles as an identification proof, but one can also lock/ unlock their biometric details linked to Aadhaar to secure their personal data. mAadhaar is official mobile application developed by Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) to provide an interface to Aadhaar Number Holders to carry their demographic information viz. Name, Date of Birth, Gender & Address along with photograph as linked with their Aadhaar Number in smart phones.
