Google Assistant integration coming to Android Messages

At Google I/O 2018, the tech giant announced their future plans for the Google Assistant and its deep integration on various Google products. Now as announced by the company, Google Assistant is coming to the Android Messages app for Android and web. According to an exclusive report by XDA Developers, the company is now testing the integration and features of Google Assistant in Android Messages. Since the public interest is more towards the Android Messages than the Google Allo, Google is now more focusing on shaping the Android Messages.

This early testing version of the Google Assistant integration on Android Messages app is very limited and you can only summon Google within conversations and there is no way to Chat directly with Google Assistant like you can on Allo. This is going to work similarly to how Google Assistant in Allo worked, but without the ability to talk to Google Assistant directly. It will only suggest recommended things to say.

This was first enabled by XDA Recognized Developer Quinny899, Kieron Quinn of Mighty Quinn Apps. “We were then able to get it working ourselves. As you can see from the screenshots, I tested a lot of different messages to try to get Google Assistant to recommend something to say. Through my testing, I was able to have it show for nearby restaurants and the weather.” –  reports XDA Developers
