Weekly Roundup: Highlights Of Week 31

As usual, we are at this moment rounding up the highlighted headlines of Week 31.

Welcome back to the widely read Weekly Roundup of Android Hits. Past week was a little mundane with usual leaks regarding forthcoming Samsung, Nokia, and LG flagship devices, and some app update. This doesn’t mean we don’t have other news, but these were all shouted by most loudly out there. Let us dive into the topic.

Nokia 9 spotted on AnTuTu

One of the most anticipated device in 2017, the Nokia 9 has been spotted on AnTuTu benchmark listing which revealed the complete specs of the smartphone. One of the supposed variants of the Nokia 9 with model number TA-1052 has been leaked on AnTuTu last week, confirming the d13MP+13MP dual camera setup in the rear. The device will be powered by Qualcomm SNapdragon 835 chipset coupled with 4GBf RAM. Also, the listing had shown us that the device would be shipped with Android 7.1.1 Nougat on board.

Google Play Services Becomes The First App With 5 Billion Downloads

Google’s Play Service app became the most downloaded app in Google Play Store, counted to 5 Billion. This is a significant achievement as the download count is just around 2 Billion numbers away from the world population count. The Google Play services run as a background core enabler which lets every GApps run on ANdroid smartphones smoothly and to establish the connection between Google Play servers.

Google Duo calling features comes to Trucaller

One of the largest contact reverse lookup and caller ID service across the globe Truecaller had received an update last week which integrated the Google Duo calling feature to the app. The Google Duo integration was a part of Truecaller developer’s tie-up to bring mutually beneficial services to both Trua=ecaller and Android Operating system. The “Video Call” button down on both Caller ID snippet and in-app Caller profile sections will lead the user to the Google Duo app installed on the smartphone. Several months back, the Truecaller has also gotten several features like Flash message, Invite rewards, etc.

Galaxy Note 8 render leaks

The upcoming flagship phablet from Samsung in Note series, the Galaxy Note 8 has been leaked in a rendered image via Evan Blass which he showed the complete front look of the device.The render was almost similar to the ones leaked in the previous weeks. It had shown us the physical characteristics like dedicated Bixby button, larger infinity display, front sensors, etc. The device is expected to launch withSD835/Exynos 895 with 6 Gigs of RAM as well.

LG V30 supposed sketches leak

LG V30’s latest leak was flourished with a sketch which clearly reveals the complete structure of the device. As we see can see, the LG has apparently removed the secondary display and added OLED panel which covers almost the complete of the front area. The dual camera on the rear panel and circular biometric fingerprint scanner are giving the device an LG cliche-ic style as per their recent trends. One of the important things we discussed earlier last week was about the f/1.6 aperture size of the LG V30’s camera department, which is the largest light sensitivity in mobile cameras.

ASUS Zenfone 4 teaser reveals dual-camera

A teaser image which has been published by the official handles of Taiwanese giant revealed the dual-camera setup of ASUS Zenfone 4 series smartphones. As there must be a lot of devices in Zenfone 4 series from entry level to flagship, we could expect the shown device somewhere in the middle of mid-range and high-end. The company seems to have revamped the entire ASUS zenfone device design concept in the forthcoming models.

Samsung launched flip-phone in China

The Chinese market is being a favorite place for manufacturers to test their latest experimental devices as the market accepts any changes and challenges widely, also due to the ease introduction and selling in the same country. Samsung had launched their latest clamshell form factor flip smartphone in Cina. The SM-G9298 (Leadership 8) smartphone has dual-AMOLED panels on the other side of the display shell. The smartphone is powered by Snapdragon 821, with 4GB RAM and 12MP rear camera. The smartphone also has a fingerprint scanner on the rear and a 5 Megapixel selfie snapper. The smartphone is boosted up with 2300mAH battery under the shell.

Nokia 2 spotted in live leaked images

Nokia TA-1029, supposed to be the alleged Nokia 2 has been leaked in live images. The pictures had shown us nothing special, except the existence of the device. The smartphone is expected to sport a 4.5 inch HD Display with 1280 x 720 Resolution.

Motorola announced Moto Hubs in India

Motorola in India had announced the Retail Experience chain stores across the Indian sub-continent named Moto Hub. These sores are specially designed for everyone to try out every Motorola devices, from earphone to flagship smartphones if you are willing to purchase on from online or an authorized seller.  Currently, the Oto Hub stores are available at  GIP Mall & Logix Mall at Noida, Shipra Mall at Indirapuram and Xperia Mall, Korum Mall & Viviana Mall at Mumbai.

Google began Preview Program for Google Home

Internet giant Google ha started a Preview Program for their AI Assistant Google Home pod users. Any users can now register for the preview program, and you will get the latest update bit earlier than the regular users, but you may have to report and feedback if any issues persist or if you happen to find out any bugs.

Lenovo to ship forthcoming smartphones with Stock Android

Finally, the Chinese OEM Lenovo has admitteD that their own customized version of Android was not as good as other custom versions. The company has announced that they are stopping the further development of Vibe Pure UI based on Android for their smartphones. Instead, the company will begin installing their upcoming smartphones with Stock Android UI with no bloatware, adware and other unwanted programs pre-installed. Th forthcoming Lenovo smartphones will be as clean as Moto devices.

    • We were requesting the brand for a unit. I guess they are having some issues. Anyways, We will buy a retail unit for review. Stay tuned.
