Google Earth Enterprise will be Open Source from March, Google Announces

Google Earth Enterprise released ten years ago, allowing the market world to build and host private versions of Earth’s Maps. In 2015, Google shuttered the doors of this service till March 2017.But today, Google revised the project, saying that Google Earth Enterprise Tools will be open-source from March.
Google explained in a blog that they would publish GEE Fusion, GEE Server and GEE Portable Server under the License of Apache2.Here are those words:

“We are excited to announce that we are open-sourcing Google Earth Enterprise (GEE), the enterprise product that allows developers to build and host their private maps and 3D globes. With this release, GEE Fusion, GEE Server and GEE Portable Server source codes will be published on GitHub under the Apache2 license in March.”
As per the words of Google, the customers are still in use of GEE in ‘Mission Critical Applications, and so they had no other options. Moreover, Google hopes that GEE users will be approaching its Cloud Platform and Earth Engine Solutions. While Google keeps Google Earth Enterprise available, they will also make it available in a different form, to satisfy legacy users.
